It’s spring and we’re going chicken crazy.  It was the Oceanside Poultry swap in Parksville today and we went down to see if we could replenish our flock after that horrible mink attack in February.  So we got 18 chicks today, 8 Plymouth Barred Rock which are apparently a nice dual purpose bird and 10 more Auracanas/Americanas. I think that most of the latter chicks are Americanas, so we’ll see.  We met up with C4 in Parksville to check out the chickens then we went to Goats on the Roof (aka the Old Country Market) in Coombs to have lunch then we went to Rathtrevor to enjoy the sun and surf.  A most fun day. Unfortunately I didn’t take the camera so we didn’t get any pictures of the beach:(  However, here are a few pictures of the chicks.
